Lovćen
Lovćen Mountain is the spiritual heart of Montenegro. The Mausoleum of Petar II Petrović Njegoš sits at the summit, reached by 461 steps and offering panoramic views over the bay, the coast, and the mountains beyond.
The village of Njeguši in Lovćen Mountain is known as the birthplace of the royal dynasty Petrović and a guardian of the authentic architecture and cuisine in the region. Njeguški sir and pršut (cheese and prosciutto of Njeguši) are both genuine contributions to Montenegrin cuisine, produced only in this area, following the traditional recipe. Njeguški pršut is a traditional Montenegrin delicacy that is a must-try for any food lover visiting the country. This dry-cured ham is made from local pork and is aged for several months, giving it a rich and complex flavor. A tasting of this delicious treat is a must-do experience while visiting Lovćen.
