Skadar Lake

Skadar Lake is a large freshwater lake shared between Montenegro and Albania. It is the largest lake in the Balkans and is home to a diverse array of flora and fauna, including over 260 species of birds.

The lake is surrounded by picturesque landscapes and is a popular spot for boating, fishing, and swimming. Several small islands can be visited by boat. In addition to its natural beauty, Skadar Lake is rich in history and culture, with monasteries and churches around its shores including Beška and Vranjina, and the famous fortress Lesendro built in the 18th century. The lake is also home to the town of Rijeka Crnojevića, a charming medieval town with a rich history and cultural heritage. A boat cruise on Skadar Lake is a must-do experience for any nature lover. The boat tour typically starts at the town of Virpazar, where you board a traditional wooden boat and set off through the narrow channels of the lake, surrounded by towering cliffs and lush vegetation.
